As the mother of two boys, I understand how important it is to create the images that your family will cherish for years to come, but also to BE IN THE PHOTOS TOO! In fact, it was having a family of my own (and not being in many photos, because I was always taking the photos!) that motivated me to launch and grow my successful family portrait business.

My name is April Ludwig, and I am more than a portrait photographer. I create images you will be excited to turn into beautiful framed art, albums, and prints that your family will remember & cherish for years to come!

My Stance

I am an inclusive photographer. I condemn prejudice & racism in any capacity.

I strive to create a non-judgemental, safe space for all of my clients regardless of race, religion (or lack thereof), sexual orientation, ability, age, height, weight, marital status, gender, and so on & so forth.

A Little More About Me...

I am a multi-award winning Certified Professional Portrait photographer with a studio in Bound Brook, NJ (near Bridgewater). I am also proud to be a Certified Small Business, and Certified Woman-Owned Business in NJ, reflecting my commitment to excellence and diversity.

I am honored to have received numerous awards, including the 2023 BEST OF CENTRAL NJ readers award and the 2024 BEST PHOTOGRAPHER in the Bridgewater Lifestyle Magazine Readers Choice Awards. Additionally, I hold the title of 'Associate Photographer' through the Portrait Masters and have earned 53 merited bronze images, along with winning a silver award in the ICON international photography awards.

As an active member of the Somerset County Business Partnership and BWNice, I am deeply rooted in my local community. I regularly volunteer my time and talents to organizations such as Jacks Kids, The Somerset County Food Bank, and The Center for Great Expectations.

Originally from Detroit, MI I moved to NJ in 2013 and began my company in 2018.  I hold a Master Degree in Business Management from Walsh College in Troy, MI. I am married, have two wild & rambunctious boys, 2 adorable hound pups (Beagle & a coon-hound Shepard), and a bearded dragon! Our house is a constant state of chaos, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I also have  have 11 (mostly) meaningful tattoos - so feel free to ask about them at our session.

I prioritize safety and quality at every step. I am CPR/AED and First Aid certified, and have extensive training in newborn safety with APNIP. I've also had 1:1 and small group mentoring from world-renowned photographers  Ana Brandt and Cass Vanhorn (Jones) of Noelle Mirabella Photography.
